Lately, many of us are going through the weakness of iman phase. There are many situations such as being lazy, returning to the jahiliyyah era and there are also those who leave the amal path due to fatigue. It is even more surprising that these happen to those who are already recognized in the da’wah field.

It is undeniable that this is a phenomenon in which Allah is filtering them out. However, there are several other factors that contribute to this phenomenon.

This situation reminds us of the Hunayn War. At that point of time, the huge number of Muslimins has made them felt secured and confident that they will win the battle. However, when this capacity went to Hunayn Valley, they were ambushed. They all ran off leaving Rasulullah and a few Muhajirin and Ansar people behind. Then came Allah S.W.T.’s firman in relation to this story : “... Allah has already given you victory in many regions and [even] on the day of Hunayn, when your great number pleased you, but it did not avail you at all, and the earth was confining for you with its vastness; then you turned back, fleeing.” [Surah At-Taubah: 25]

Even though at the end of the day they won with Allah’s assistance, this had almost caused the defeat to Islam.
Why did Sahabah, who received direct guidance from Rasulullah, can make such mistake? And why the mistake of ‘heart’ is seriously taken into attention by Allah? It was due to a little bit of over-confident & proud.

This is simply because Allah would like to teach an unforgettable lesson for the future generations. Even back then, the Sahabah with small quantity has made it through the Badar War, solely by depending on Allah. When they start being confidence with their capacity and begin to depend on themselves, Allah showed them failure before showering them with victory.
The Mukmins become great and strong every time because there is Allah’s assistance, not due to their own strength. The Sahabah were fated by Allah to undergo this situation because He wanted to educate them that no one is perfect. Everyone has their own flaws, huge or small.
Indeed, this is what we have to realize. We often think that those who are pious should not and could not afford to make mistakes, until it becomes unacceptable when they do make mistake.

Have we forgotten that we are humans, they are humans too? Everyone needs advice and comments throughout their life. Rasulullah S.A.W. once said, “Not a single human is free from sin.” Moreover, Rasulullah continued, “.. and the best of all sinners is those who repent to Allah.” [HR At-Tirmidzi & Ibnu Majah]
Believe that no matter how outstanding a person looks, they in fact have their weakness. The same goes for us. Allah has also reminded us, “And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.” [Surah Az-Zariyat : 55]

Let us greet our iman caringly, because it might be the turning point from lifeless to lively. InsyaAllah.
